1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you and Format Partners LLC ("we", "us"), which makes the Guessworks games and websites, including guessworks.games, chartbreaker.app, stalagmight.app, guessus.app and mapinion.app (together, the "Games"). By using the Games you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Games.
2. The Games
Each game offers one puzzle a day, the same for everyone, with a new one at midnight US Eastern time. The Games show how other players did, keep an archive of past puzzles you can replay for practice, and let you share your result. You need a current web browser and an internet connection to play. The Games are for your personal, non-commercial entertainment.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Games, or at least 16 if you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian should review these Terms with you. By using the Games you confirm that you meet these requirements.
4. No Accounts
There are no accounts. Your progress (your streak, your games played, your average and your best) is linked to your browser through a cookie and stored on your device. If you clear your cookies or browser data, use another browser or device, or block cookies, your progress may be lost or start again. We do not guarantee that any score, streak or statistic will be kept, and we may correct or reset them, for example after fixing a puzzle.
5. Fair Play and Acceptable Use
The crowd numbers are only worth something if everyone plays fair. You agree not to:
- use bots, scripts, automated tools or scrapers to play, to read the Games or to copy their content;
- play the same puzzle more than once, through other browsers, devices, networks or any other means, to change your result or the crowd numbers;
- try to get answers before a puzzle closes, including by reading the Games' code or network traffic;
- interfere with, overload or get around the Games' security, rate limits or bot checks;
- click ads you are not interested in, or encourage or cause others to, or send any automated or artificial traffic to the Games;
- reverse engineer, decompile or copy the Games, except where the law allows it;
- use the Games for anything unlawful or harmful, or impersonate anyone.
We may leave any play out of the crowd numbers, correct any score, and block or limit access, without notice, when we reasonably believe these Terms have been broken.
6. Puzzles, Facts and Sources
Puzzles are built from published sources, which we name with each puzzle. We check them, but sources can be revised and mistakes can happen. When we find an error we correct it and may adjust scores. Prices, dates, percentages, places and other facts in the Games are for entertainment and general interest only. They are not financial, investment, legal or other professional advice, and you should not rely on them for any decision.
7. Your Answers and Feedback
Your answers include the choices you make, the lines you draw, the words and numbers you type and your answers to questions about yourself. You give us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use your answers to run the Games, and to create, publish and keep aggregate results and future puzzles from them (for example, "62% of players said yes"). Aggregate results never include anyone's individual answers and may be kept indefinitely. We never show your individual answers to other players. Please do not type personal information into the Games.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without any obligation to you.
8. Intellectual Property
The Games, including their names, designs, code, text, graphics and puzzles, belong to Format Partners LLC and are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. You may share your results and the share text the Games create. Apart from that, you may not copy, change, distribute, sell or create works based on the Games without our written permission.
Some data in the Games comes from public sources. Works of the US government are in the public domain, and data under an open license is used under that license and credited with the puzzle. Other names and trademarks belong to their owners, and their appearance in a puzzle does not mean they endorse the Games.
If you believe something in the Games infringes your copyright, email us with the work, where it appears in the Games and your contact details, and we will review it promptly.
9. Advertising and Other Sites
The Games show ads from third parties, including Google. We do not endorse the products or services advertised, and any dealings you have with an advertiser are between you and that advertiser. The Games also link to the sources of their facts and to other websites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for them.
10. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect when you play, how we use it and the choices you have. It is part of these Terms.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE GAMES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE GAMES WILL BE AVAILABLE, UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY PUZZLE, ANSWER, FACT, SCORE, RANKING, STREAK OR CROWD STATISTIC IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE OR WILL BE KEPT.
12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, FORMAT PARTNERS LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, MEMBERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS AND AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, SCORES, STREAKS, STATISTICS, PROFITS OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE GAMES OR THESE TERMS, INCLUDING ANY RELIANCE ON A FACT SHOWN IN THE GAMES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE GAMES OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100).
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where the law forbids limiting it.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Format Partners LLC and its officers, members, employees, agents and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs and expenses (including reasonable lawyers' fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Games or your violation of anyone else's rights.
14. Changes, Suspension and Termination
We may change, pause or end any game, puzzle, archive or feature at any time, with or without notice. We may suspend or end your access to the Games if we reasonably believe you have broken these Terms. You may stop using the Games at any time. Sections 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 15 and 16 survive the end of your use of the Games.
15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms or the Games will be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitration will take place in Delaware or remotely, at the election of the party filing the claim. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies. Disputes will be resolved only on an individual basis: you waive any right to take part in a class action, class arbitration or other representative proceeding against Format Partners LLC.
If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, this section does not take away the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, or your right to bring a claim in its courts.
16. General Provisions
- Entire agreement: these Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Games and replace any earlier agreement.
- Severability: if any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver: if we do not enforce a right or provision, we have not given it up.
- Assignment: you may not transfer these Terms without our written consent. We may transfer them without restriction.
- Changes to these Terms: we may update these Terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is material, we will say so on the Games before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Games after a change means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Games.
